KIRABO SEEDS’ MISSION
A FATHER TO THE FATHERLESS
The cornerstone of the Kirabo Seeds ministry is the verse from Psalm 68:5-6a. “A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows, is God in his dwelling place. God sets the lonely in families.” We believe that just as God is the center of this ministry, God is the one who guides us to invest in these children so deeply, and to ensure that they are raised to love and serve others as they have been loved and served.
In the years that Kirabo Seeds has been raising children, we have seen them blossom. The vulnerable children arrived malnourished, under-educated, and severely at-risk from disease and predators, and it is a joy to see how they are now healthy, happy, and succeeding in their studies. They are part of an extended family which not only encompasses fellow Kirabo Seeds children and staff, but also the relatives and villages from which they came. The children know many people love them, and that God loves them immensely.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
We share the belief that one day the children will take what they have been given and return it to their communities. We see this hope fulfilled in our neighborhood outreaches. Our staff and kids have the desire for all people to hear about the good news of Jesus. Almost every weekend, children in the neighborhood are invited to come to the Kirabo Seeds home to play, sing, dance, and hear about God’s love for them. Our kids often volunteer to lead singing, play the drums, and even to speak of God’s goodness to the children in our neighborhood. As they have grown, some of the Kirabo Seeds kids have taken on the responsibility of organizing these weekly outreaches. We rejoice that the kids have such a love for others that they want to tell them about who the Lord is and what he has done in their lives.
